图里翻译规范理论视角下文化负载词英译策略探析——以《骆驼祥子》为例

A Study on English Translation Strategies of Culture-Loaded Words from the Perspective of Toury’s Norms Theory—Taking Camel Xiangzi as an Example

摘要: 本文在图里翻译规范理论视角下对施晓菁《骆驼祥子》英译本中的文化负载词英译策略进行系统探析。通过分析译者在预备规范层面遵循的翻译政策以及是否直接翻译，初始规范层面的翻译倾向，以及操作规范层面具体采用的翻译策略，进而探讨译者在面对这一类具有浓厚本土文化特色的文化负载词时，会采取何种翻译策略。研究发现，施晓菁在处理《骆驼祥子》中的文化负载词时，整体倾向于目标语可接受性，多采用归化、意译策略确保可读性；同时在关键处通过直译、加注等方式适度保留文化异质性，体现了动态平衡的翻译策略。

Abstract: This study systematically analyzes the translation strategies for culture-loaded terms in Lynette Shi’s English version of Camel Xiangzi from the perspective of Gideon Toury’s translation norms theory. By examining the translation policies followed by the translator at the preliminary norms level, including whether direct translation is adopted, the translation orientation at the initial norms level, and the specific translation strategies employed at the operational norms level, the research explores how the translator addresses such terms imbued with strong local cultural characteristics. The findings reveal that in dealing with culture-loaded terms in Camel Xiangzi, Lynette Shi generally leans toward target-language acceptability, frequently adopting domestication and free translation strategies to ensure readability. Meanwhile, at critical points, she appropriately retains cultural heterogeneity through methods such as literal translation and annotations, reflecting a dynamically balanced translation approach.
