Survey on User Acceptance of Eco-Lighting Systems Based on Algal Power and Photovoltaics, and Analysis of Influencing Factors
Abstract: To address the challenges of technological acceptance and unclear user needs in real-world applications of algal-photovoltaic hybrid lighting systems, this study aims to design an eco-friendly lighting system integrating algal bioelectricity with solar photovoltaics, with a focus on assessing its user acceptance and potential for social adoption. By establishing an integrated “algae-photovoltaic-storage” system architecture and incorporating dynamic energy scheduling strategies and sustainable material design, the research employs a structured questionnaire survey method to conduct empirical analysis on respondents’ system perception, design preferences, willingness to pay, and application scenarios. Results indicate that the system receives high recognition for its environmental values, aesthetic integration, and multifunctional design, with homes and public spaces identified as ideal application contexts. Users’ willingness to pay is positively correlated with their educational background and environmental attitudes. This study provides empirical evidence and insights into social acceptance to support user-oriented design and market promotion of algal-photovoltaic hybrid lighting systems. It should be noted, however, that the sample size (N = 72) is limited and primarily consists of young, highly educated individuals; future research should expand the sample size and adopt more balanced sampling strategies to enhance the generalizability of the findings.
