审美对等视域下的英语散文翻译策略

Translation Strategies for English Prose from the Perspective of Aesthetic Equivalence

摘要: 英语散文翻译是中外文化交流的重要组成部分。现有英语散文翻译研究过度关注语义的忠实，而对读者审美接受度关注不足。翻译美学为英语散文翻译提供了重要理论支撑，在翻译中译者可采用精确词义、巧用四字格、形象替代、化用四项审美对等策略，从而在准确传达原文语义的同时，实现译文的韵律美、意境美与文化美，让译文读者获得与原作读者近似的审美体验。研究表明，翻译美学指导下的相关翻译策略对英语散文汉译的审美再现具有重要参考价值。

Abstract: The translation of English prose constitutes an important component of cross-cultural communication between China and the West. Existing studies on English prose translation tend to place excessive emphasis on semantic fidelity while paying insufficient attention to readers’ aesthetic reception. Translation aesthetics provides a significant theoretical framework for addressing this imbalance. Guided by this perspective, translators may adopt four strategies aimed at achieving aesthetic equivalence: ensuring lexical precision, skillfully employing four-character expressions, substituting culturally resonant imagery, and applying adaptive transformation. These strategies enable translators to accurately convey the original meaning while simultaneously reproducing the rhythmic, artistic, and cultural qualities of the source text, thereby allowing target readers to experience an aesthetic response comparable to that of the original audience. The study demonstrates that translation strategies informed by translation aesthetics offer valuable insights for the aesthetic representation in English-to-Chinese prose translation.
