《黄帝内经》英译本的海外接受度研究——基于网络大众书评的实证分析

A Study on the Overseas Reception of English Translations of Huangdi Neijing—An Empirical Analysis Based on Online Popular Book Reviews

摘要: 中医典籍的英译与国际传播已成为中医药跨文化传播研究的重要议题。《黄帝内经》作为中医理论体系的奠基之作，其英译本的海外接受状况尤具代表性与研究价值。本文运用系统内容分析法，梳理了《黄帝内经》代表性英译本的读者反馈情况，并对来自亚马逊与好读网的208条大众书评进行对比分析，考察《黄帝内经》代表性英译本的海外接受情况。研究围绕译本准确性、文化适应性与可读性三个维度，探讨了影响《黄帝内经》英译本海外接受度的关键因素，并提出了相应的译介优化与传播策略。研究发现普通读者更关注《黄帝内经》的实用价值以及里面蕴含的中医文化；部分英译本难以保持原文严谨的同时兼顾语言流畅，在平衡准确性与可读性之间仍存在矛盾；研究表明，提升《黄帝内经》英译本海外接受度，应进一步优化译本质量，尤其注重准确传达原典内涵与提升目标语读者阅读体验，并在保留中医文化特质的基础上适度采用深度翻译策略。本研究可为中医典籍英译的对外译介与跨文化传播提供基于读者实际反馈的实证依据。

Abstract: The English translations and international dissemination of traditional Chinese medical classics have become important topics in the study of cross-cultural communication of Chinese medicine. As the foundational work of the theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine, Huangdi Neijing is particularly representative and valuable for research in terms of the overseas reception of its English translations. Using systematic content analysis, this study reviews reader feedback on representative English translations of Huangdi Neijing and conducts a comparative analysis of 211 general reader reviews from Amazon and Goodreads, thereby examining the overseas reception of representative English translations of the text. The study focuses on three dimensions—translation accuracy, cultural adaptability, and readability—to explore the key factors affecting the overseas acceptance of English translations of the Huangdi Neijing, and offers recommendations for improving translation and dissemination strategies. Research has found that general readers are more interested in the practical value of the Huangdi Neijing’s Inner Classic and the traditional Chinese medicine culture it contains; some existing English translations struggle to maintain the original text’s rigor while also achieving fluent language, and tensions remain between accuracy and readability. The study suggests that improving the overseas reception of English translations of Huangdi Neijing requires further enhancement of translation quality, with particular emphasis on accurately conveying the connotations of the original classic and improving the reading experience of target-language readers. Meanwhile, deep translation strategies should be adopted appropriately on the basis of preserving the cultural characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine. This research provides empirical evidence based on reader feedback for the translation and cross-cultural dissemination of Chinese medical classics.
