The Comparative Study on the English Translation of TCM Therapeutic Principles Terminology from the Perspective of Three-Dimensional Transformation

摘要: 本文从生态翻译学中的三维转换内容出发，对比研究两大中医术语标准中的治则术语翻译的差异性和相同点。从语言、文化、交际三个角度分析，两大术语标准都实现了中医药文化内涵的阐述传达，其差异主要由于语言体系不同，文化背景相差较大以及主要目标读者群体和应用场景有所差别而造成。从三维转换视角分析两大术语标准中医治则术语翻译产生差异的原因，反映出生态翻译学中的“多维度的选择性适应与适应性选择”原则与中医中“整体观”“动态平衡”等概念原理的契合。三维转换视角对中医术语翻译具有重要指导意义，在翻译过程中，译者需平衡语言、文化和交际三个维度，在语言层面表达准确的同时，传递中医文化特色并达到良好的交际效果，在动态平衡中实现将中医理论从地方专用语向全球通用语的转变，助力生态翻译学在中医翻译领域的发展，推动中医药术语英译规范化进程。

Abstract: This study takes the three-dimensional transformation in Eco-translatology as the theoretical basis, exploring the similarities and differences in the therapeutic principles terminology translations between two issued standards on TCM terminology. From the linguistic, cultural and communicative perspectives, both of the two terminology standards have successfully conveyed and expressed the cultural connotations of TCM. The differences mainly result from the different language systems, different cultural backgrounds, and variations in the main target readership and application scenarios. Analyzing the reasons for the differences in the translation of the therapeutic principles terms from the perspective of three-dimensional transformation shows the consistency of the principle of “multidimensional selective adaptation and adaptive selection” with the theory of “holistic view” and “dynamic equilibrium” in TCM. The three-dimensional transformation perspective holds pivotal guiding significance for the translation of TCM terms. During the translation process, the translator needs to balance the three dimensions of language, culture and communication. While ensuring accurate expression at the language level, they should also convey the cultural characteristics of TCM and achieve good communication effects, shifting TCM theories from local jargon to global language, which will help promote the development of Eco-translatology in the field of TCM translation and facilitate the standardization process of TCM terminology translation.
