英汉中的“黑色”词汇对比研究

A Contrastive Study of “Black” Words in English and Chinese

摘要: 本文深入探讨了“黑色”词汇在英语和汉语应用中的对比，旨在帮助译者深入理解“黑色”词汇的文化内涵，同时对于提高跨文化交际的准确性和翻译实践的得体性均具有极其重要的意义。在文化内涵、情感色彩以及语用功能方面，通过对英汉语言中“黑色”词汇的大量实例进行对比分析，系统讨论了“黑色”在两种文化中的象征意义、情感评价及其形成原因，并进一步总结其在英汉互译中的常见策略。研究表明，“黑色”在英汉语境中除了与严肃、庄重有关，还普遍与神秘、未知、权威及节制等概念相关，但在具体使用中，其语义的侧重点和文化联想因历史与媒介语境而存在差异。

Abstract: This paper presents an in-depth contrastive study of the use of the word “black” in English and Chinese, aiming to help translators gain a deeper understanding of its cultural connotations. It is also of great significance for enhancing the accuracy of cross-cultural communication and the appropriateness of translation practice. Drawing on a large number of examples involving “black” from both languages, the paper systematically discusses its symbolic meanings, affective evaluations, and the reasons behind them from the perspectives of cultural connotation, emotional coloring, and pragmatic function, and further summarizes common strategies for its translation between English and Chinese. The findings reveal that in both linguistic contexts, “black” is associated not only with seriousness and solemnity, but also widely with concepts such as mystery, the unknown, authority, and restraint. However, in specific usage, its semantic emphasis and cultural associations vary due to differences in historical and media contexts.
