Abstract: Orthopaedic surgery patients often require prolonged rehabilitation and continued nursing support after discharge, including wound monitoring, pain management, functional exercise guidance, medication counselling, complication identification, and lifestyle management. With the widespread adoption of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS), conventional discharge education and telephone follow-up may no longer fully meet patients’ needs for continuous home-based rehabilitation management. “Internet plus Nursing Services,” supported by internet-based platforms, mobile devices, and coordinated online-offline care mechanisms, can provide postoperative orthopaedic patients with wound monitoring, pain and medication management, remote rehabilitation guidance, complication alerts, and traditional Chinese medicine nursing and health education. This narrative review systematically searched Chinese and international databases, as well as official websites of national government departments. After summarising the relevant policy background, application scenarios, and implementation models, it focused on major challenges to wider adoption, including technological accessibility, nurses’ professional competencies, legal liability, data security and privacy, and pricing and reimbursement mechanisms. Practical strategies are proposed, including stratified digital support, competency-based training, clear delineation of roles and responsibilities, full-lifecycle data governance, and diversified payment mechanisms. This review aims to provide a reference for orthopaedic specialist nurses in delivering standardised, safe, and sustainable internet-enabled transitional nursing care.
