生成式人工智能赋能英语口语教学的探索——基于社会文化理论的案例研究
Exploring Generative AI-Enhanced English Speaking Instruction—A Case Study Based on Sociocultural Theory
Abstract: This study consisted of a three-week case study based on sociocultural theory (SCT) to examine the use of Generative AI (GAI) in English speaking instruction. The study showed that GAI, as an intelligent tool, has significant benefits for improving students’ language skills. It improves linguistic accuracy, reduces language anxiety, increases students’ self-confidence and promotes classroom participation and practical use of the language. Analysis of the language spoken by the students revealed a reduction in grammatical errors, more precise use of vocabulary, more sophisticated expressions, a more natural organization of speech and more fluid conversations. However, the practical application of current AI technologies still poses problems, such as the lack of accuracy in speech recognition, the need to improve conversational coherence and the insufficient integration of socio-cultural contexts. This study provides important evidence and suggestions for improving educational technologies.
