从“混沌”到“明晰”：《遥远的向日葵地》英译本中译者主体性对生态话语的重构研究

From Ambiguity to Clarity: The Reconstruction of Ecological Discourse by Translator’s Subjectivity in the English Translation of Distant Sunflower Fields

摘要: 李娟的《遥远的向日葵地》以人与自然之间混沌、流动、多义的生态话语为显著特征。在其英译本中，译者Christopher Payne通过系统的显化策略，将原文的生态混沌重构为逻辑清晰、主客分明的明晰关系。本文以显化策略为分析工具，考察Payne的译者主体性如何在非虚构文学翻译中重塑李娟的生态世界观。Payne的显化操作可归为三个层面：语言层面，让原文复杂的情感和隐含的逻辑变得清晰明确；文化层面，把原文人与自然浑然一体的意象，明晰为主客对立的明晰图式；观念层面，人与自然的关系从需要体悟的混沌状态，变成确定的明晰状态。三个层面逐层深入，共同指向一个核心结论：原文中人与自然混沌交融的生态诗学，在译文中被重构为明晰的叙事框架。这一过程反映了中国生态话语在跨语际传播中所经历的文化调适与价值重构，为理解非虚构文学中生态话语的跨语际重构提供了典型样本。

Abstract: Li Juan’s Distant Sunflower Fields is characterized by an ambiguous, fluid, and polysemous ecological discourse concerning the relationship between human beings and nature. In its English translation, translator Christopher Payne systematically employs explicitation strategies to transform the ecological ambiguity of the source text into a logically coherent framework with clear subject-object divisions. Taking explicitation as an analytical tool, this paper examines how Payne’s translator subjectivity reshapes Li Juan’s ecological worldview in non-fiction literary translation. Payne’s explicitation operations fall into three progressive dimensions: at the linguistic level, the complex emotions and implicit logic of the source text are rendered explicit and unambiguous; at the cultural level, the imagery of harmonious integration between humans and nature in the source text is transformed into a clear-cut subject-object opposition; at the ideological level, the relationship between humans and nature shifts from a state of ambiguity that requires reader interpretation to a state of clarity that is explicitly determined. Layered and mutually reinforcing, these three dimensions converge on a core argument: the ecopoetics of ambiguous human-nature integration embedded in the source text is reconstructed into an explicit narrative framework in the target text. This translational process manifests the cultural adaptation and value reconstruction that Chinese ecological discourse undergoes during cross-linguistic communication, offering a typical case for investigating the cross-linguistic reshaping of ecological discourse in non-fiction literature.
