Abstract: Aerobic composting serves as a vital approach for the resource utilization of organic solid wastes, with its core mechanism lying in the microbially driven transformation of organic carbon into humus. During composting, the transformation pathways of organic carbon directly determine whether carbon can be immobilized and retained in the form of humus. Focusing on carbon immobilization regulation strategies governing the conversion of organic carbon to humus in composting, this paper systematically sorts out key humification-influencing factors and their regulatory mechanisms from three dimensions: precursor substrate supply, microenvironmental conditions, and exogenous additives. Corresponding enhancement strategies are also proposed, aiming to provide theoretical basis and practical references for improving compost humification efficiency and facilitating carbon sequestration.
