基于倾向得分匹配的高等数学分层教学效果评估——以新疆师范大学理工科为例

摘要: 对于大学所授的理工科高等数学课程来说,分层教学是已被认为有效的做法,其目的是按学生各自已有的数学基础来安排相应教学内容。文中运用描述性统计及倾向得分匹配方法(Propensity Score Matching, PSM)对A班(处理组)与B班(对照组)做比较分析,用以考察分层教学对期末成绩的实际影响。将各组基本条件作适当匹配之后所得到的结果是:A班学生期末成绩总体上比B班要好,因而分层教学有助于提高数学成绩。所采用的实证思路正好可以用来支持理工类高等数学分层教学的有关设想,亦可指导教学改革或政策设计。
Abstract: In the teaching of Advanced Mathematics for science and engineering majors at universities, stratified teaching is considered an effective pedagogical approach, aiming to provide personalized instruction based on students’ varying mathematical foundations and abilities. This study employs descriptive statistics and the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) model to analyze students in Class A (treatment group) and Class B (control group) to evaluate the impact of stratified teaching on students’ final examination scores. By matching the basic characteristics of students in both groups, the results demonstrate that students in Class A significantly outperformed those in Class B in their final overall scores, indicating that stratified teaching can effectively enhance students’ mathematics performance. This research provides empirical support for the implementation of stratified teaching in Advanced Mathematics for science and engineering majors, offering robust references for teaching practices and policy formulation.
