Abstract: Patients receiving peritoneal dialysis (PD) are chronically exposed to toxin accumulation, persistent inflammation, volume overload, malnutrition, anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances, which may contribute to fatigue, impaired physical function, restricted participation in daily activities, and recurrent disease episodes or exacerbations. Recent evidence suggests that aerobic exercise, resistance training, flexibility and balance training, and digital exercise interventions may improve exercise tolerance, symptom burden, and quality of life in patients undergoing PD. However, exercise-related risks in this population mainly include potential effects on the PD catheter and increased intra-abdominal pressure, which may lead to abdominal wall complications. Therefore, individualized exercise prescriptions and long-term monitoring should be established for patients undergoing PD.
