Abstract: Emergency trauma patients are at high risk for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to the combined effects of physical trauma and psychological stress. PTSD is closely associated with poor physical recovery and decreased long-term quality of life in these patients. Therefore, early identification of risk factors and effective intervention for PTSD in emergency trauma patients are of great clinical significance for reducing the risk of PTSD and improving long-term prognosis. This article summarizes and discusses the characteristics, influencing factors, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of PTSD in emergency trauma patients, with the aim of helping readers understand the related research advances. It further discusses the opportunities and challenges of ultra-brief screening, stepped intervention, and multidisciplinary collaborative care for PTSD in emergency settings.
