Abstract: To refine the psychometric framework of the Chinese version of the Awe Short Measure (Awe-SM-C), this study employed multivariate generalizability theory to systematically examine its reliability characteristics and error structure. The results showed that the generalizability coefficients and dependability indices for each subscale and the total scale were all at satisfactory levels, indicating that the Awe-SM-C reliably assesses state awe. Dimension contribution analysis revealed that the connectedness and awareness factors contributed less to the universescore variance than their theoretical proportional weights, with awareness exhibiting the highest contribution to both relative and absolute measurement error variances, making it the primary source of error. In conclusion, future revisions should focus on refining the items of the connectedness and awareness factors to optimize the error structure and thereby enhance the measurement stability and precision of the Awe-SM-C.
