Abstract: In order to identify effective strategies for mitigating loneliness among middle-aged and elderly groups, this paper developed a research framework focusing on “perceived social support”, “psychological resilience”, and “loneliness”. The study considered the moderating effect of health-promoting lifestyles. Employing an empirical method involving a questionnaire survey and data analysis, the research included a total of 474 middle-aged and elderly participants, and the results revealed that perceived social support significantly alleviated loneliness among middle-aged and elderly individuals. Psychological resilience played a mediating role, and the impact of psychological resilience’s mediating effect varied among middle-aged and elderly people with different levels of health-promoting lifestyles. Beyond expanding the theoretical implications of perceived social support, psychological resilience, and health-promoting lifestyles and their application scenarios, the results of this study hold significant theoretical and practical value by systematically analyzing the internal mechanism through which perceived social support influences loneliness among middle-aged and elderly groups, and provide new ideas for formulating targeted intervention strategies for loneliness in this population.
