Abstract: Liver cirrhosis (LC) represents the terminal stage of progressive chronic liver diseases and is commonly complicated by nutritional disorders. Malnutrition is closely correlated with the severity and prognosis of cirrhosis. Accurate assessment of nutritional status, identification of potential nutritional risks, and timely initiation of early nutritional support therapy in patients with cirrhosis are of great significance for improving patients’ prognosis and quality of life. The Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) Score consists of three major indicators: serum albumin, total cholesterol level, and peripheral total lymphocyte count. This scoring system enables detection of early malnutrition, facilitates continuous management of in-hospital malnutrition, and predicts long-term prognosis in patients with advanced liver disease. This article systematically reviews the constituent principles of the CONUT Score, its correlation with classic nutritional scoring systems, its predictive value in various complications of cirrhosis, strategies for optimizing combined prediction models, and existing limitations of relevant studies, aiming to provide clinical evidence for individualized risk stratification and early nutritional intervention in patients with cirrhosis.
