Abstract: Insomnia disorder is one of the most prevalent sleep disorders and a significant health concern among adolescents. Insomnia and psychiatric disorders are deeply intertwined, and the relationship runs both ways. Beyond raising the likelihood of mental illness onset, persistent sleep disturbance tends to complicate how a condition unfolds over time—undermining treatment response and casting a longer shadow over long-term prognosis. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, the first-line treatment for chronic insomnia recommended by major international sleep medicine guidelines, this review synthesizes current evidence on the application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia in adolescents across a range of psychiatric conditions. Findings indicate that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia effectively improves sleep quality and duration while concurrently alleviating anxiety and depressive symptoms in adolescents with mood disorders. It also has a positive effect on issues such as attention deficit and hyperactivity, and is currently a treatment method with high safety and stable long-term therapeutic effects. Therefore, this article elaborates on the application effects and potential risks of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia in adolescent patients with mental disorders based on previous studies, aiming to provide empirical evidence for the clinical application of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia.
