Abstract: In Western psychotherapeutic contexts, Live Action Role-Playing (LARP) has demonstrated potential for enhancing social skills, yet its systematic application within group psychological counseling in China remains underexplored. This study constructs a three-dimensional innovative model of “contextual adaptation × role customization × mechanism interaction,” grounded in the Chinese cultural psychology, and conducts an in-depth comparative analysis of international LARP intervention cases. The findings reveal that international CBT-LARP cases validate the short-term feasibility of role-playing interventions, but the three-month follow-up outcomes show divergence—with both sustained improvements and deterioration coexisting—which serves as a caution that local practices must strengthen sustainable mechanisms and deep cultural embedding. This research provides a theoretical framework to fill the theoretical gap at the intersection of murder mystery games and group psychological counseling, and charts a localized pathway for gamified interventions.
