Abstract: Disfiguring skin diseases, such as acne, melasma, and so on are skin disorders that occur on the face and disfigure. It not only impairs the physiological function of the skin, but also causes psychological problems, such as anxiety and depression. Existing therapies often have limitations, such as high side effects, high recurrence rate, and high cost, and it is urgent to explore safer and effective alternatives. Facial acupuncture therapy combines the meridian theory of traditional Chinese medicine with modern microneedling technology to regulate the body’s state by stimulating specific acupuncture points on the face. This therapy has the characteristics of simplicity and safety, rapid onset of action, and a wide range of indications, showing unique potential in the field of skin. This article will discuss the theoretical basis and clinical efficacy of facial acupuncture in the treatment of disfiguring skin diseases, and provide evidence-based basis for the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine for cosmetology.
