Hegel’s Logical Resolution of the Opposition between Teleology and Mechanism

摘要: 本文围绕目的论与机械性的对立这一西方近代形而上学的经典论题，探讨黑格尔如何在逻辑学体系中解决这一对立。机械论宇宙观虽然在反对经院哲学神学目的论方面具有启蒙意义，但机械性只是对自然现象的肤浅贫乏的描述，并非客观世界的真理。康德提出“内在目的”概念，作为僵化、狭隘的机械论研究方式的补充，但这种主观调和式的解决方案仅是权宜之计。黑格尔则通过对传统的形式化逻辑进行彻底改造，使逻辑成为具有具体内容的活的精神生命，在这样的逻辑体系中，理性能够认识无条件对象，机械性的非真理性得到揭示，目的论作为实存与概念相符合的真理性认识得以确立。这一方法为当代批判工具理性、反思启蒙理性变为知性提供了更为有效的哲学路径。

Abstract: Focused on the classic metaphysical opposition between teleology and mechanism in modern Western philosophy, this paper examines how Hegel resolves this opposition within his system of logic. Although the mechanistic worldview possesses an enlightening significance in opposing the scholastic theological teleology, mechanism remains merely a superficial and impoverished description of natural phenomena, not the truth of the objective world. Kant introduces the concept of “internal purposiveness” as a supplement to the rigid and narrow mechanistic approach to the study of nature, but this subjective reconciliatory solution proves to be merely a makeshift arrangement. Hegel, by radically transforming traditional formal logic, elevates logic into a living spiritual life endowed with concrete content. Within such a logical system, reason is capable of knowing the unconditioned, the untruth of mechanism is thereby disclosed, and teleology is established as a genuine cognition in which existence corresponds to its concept. This approach offers a more effective philosophical path for contemporary critiques of instrumental reason and reflections on the degeneration of Enlightenment reason into mere understanding.
