Exploration and Practice of a Mental Health Service System for Clinical Medicine Professional Degree Postgraduates
Abstract: Professional degree graduate students in clinical medicine constitute a reserve of backbone applied talent for the healthcare sector. They simultaneously occupy the dual roles of student and prospective physician, and face multiple pressures arising from academic study, clinical practice, interpersonal relationships, finances, marriage and childbearing, and career development; they are therefore a high-risk group for mental health problems. Traditional, single-track and passive models of mental health education are no longer adequate, and an integrated mental health work system is imperative. Taking the Fifth Clinical College of Chongqing Medical University as a case, and drawing on ecological systems theory and cognitive appraisal theory, this paper constructs a four-in-one mental health work system of assessment, early warning, intervention, and coordination. Dual-track screening, three-level early warning, multidimensional education, quadrilateral linkage, and regular college-level review together form a collaborative safeguard for mental health work. After two years of practice, the initiative has achieved bidirectional empowerment of mental health services and the quality of talent cultivation.
