Audiovisual Aesthetics in the Age of “Variable-Speed Playback”: The Reverse Shaping of Cinematic Language by Streaming Viewing Modes

摘要: 流媒体平台的倍速播放、进度条拖动与解说化观看等功能，将影视作品纳入以效率为核心的观看机制。文章以“逆向塑造”概念讨论倍速观看如何经由平台数据化中介反向影响内容生产。研究认为，倍速播放重置了观众对影像节奏的感知标准，使“慢”从审美策略转化为需要被正当化的观看阻滞；平台将观看行为转化为数据，嵌入内容策划与推荐机制，形成从受众到生产的反馈链条，推动镜头语言向更短镜头、更高剪辑密度和更少留白的方向发展。但这一变化并非单一因果，还受移动端观看、平台竞争与类型工业等多重因素影响。因此，文章将“逆向塑造”理解为观看习惯、平台数据与生产制度共同构成的结构性影响，而非线性技术决定论。

Abstract: Functions such as variable-speed playback, progress bar dragging, and commentary-based viewing on streaming platforms have incorporated film and television works into a viewing mechanism centered on efficiency. This paper employs the concept of “reverse shaping” to examine how variable-speed viewing, through the data-mediated intermediation of platforms, exerts a reverse influence on content production. The paper argues that variable-speed playback resets the audience’s perceptual standard for cinematic rhythm, transforming “slowness” from an aesthetic strategy into a viewing obstruction that requires legitimation; platforms convert viewing behaviors into data, embedding them into content planning and recommendation mechanisms, thereby forming a feedback loop from the audience to production, which drives cinematic language toward shorter shots, higher editing density, and less use of aesthetic blank space. However, this change is not a singular causal outcome but is also influenced by multiple factors including mobile viewing, platform competition, and genre industry. Therefore, this paper understands “reverse shaping” as a structural influence constituted jointly by viewing habits, platform data, and production regimes, rather than as a linear technological determinism.
