Abstract: Excessive carbon dioxide emissions have become one of the main factors contributing to global warming, making the development of effective carbon dioxide sequestration technologies an urgent priority in addressing climate change. Carbonation technology for alkaline industrial waste not only demonstrates great potential for long-term stable CO2 sequestration but also promotes the resource utilization of waste, representing an effective approach that balances emission reduction and environmental management. This paper comprehensively examines the carbonation mechanism of alkaline industrial waste, analyzes the impact of key process parameters on carbonation efficiency, and focuses on evaluating the carbon sequestration potential of three typical wastes: steel slag, fly ash, and waste concrete. The study shows that different wastes exhibit significant differences in carbonation potential and suitable reaction conditions due to variations in composition and structure, requiring targeted optimization based on raw material characteristics. Carbonation products show promising prospects for resource utilization in green building materials, high-value-added carbonates, and environmental remediation.
