Abstract: Under the background of the widespread use of mobile Internet and generative artificial intelligence, individuals with health anxiety are prone to falling into the dilemma of “the more they search, the more anxious they become”. This paper explores the psychological mechanisms of cognitive bias in health-anxious individuals under online information exposure. The study suggests that health anxiety drives information-seeking behavior; algorithmic recommendation deepens the information cocoon effect; and cognitive bias brought by anxiety further reinforces health anxiety within the information cocoon, forming a closed-loop positive feedback mechanism of “health anxiety-information seeking-information cocoon-cognitive bias-anxiety reinforcement”. Cognitive bias is the cognitive factor linking information-seeking behavior and emotional changes, while the information cocoon is a key environmental factor. Intervention should be comprehensively adjusted from aspects such as reducing health anxiety, improving tolerance of uncertainty, reducing anxiety-driven seeking, promoting diverse information exposure, and correcting cognitive bias, so as to improve health anxiety and cognitive bias in this population.
