英汉疾病、死亡委婉语的语义空缺探究

摘要: 在英语和汉语中，存在着大量的描写疾病和死亡的委婉语，但并不是都能完全对应和契合。本文将通过对比两种语言中有关疾病、死亡委婉语的语义空缺现象，探究其背后的文化、认知以及思维方式的差异，以促进跨文化交流。
Abstract: There are a plethora of Euphemisms describing diseases and death in both English and Chinese. However, not all these euphemisms can be translated literally and directly. This thesis attempts to compare and contrast the semantic gap phenomenon to explore the discrepancy of culture, cognition, and mode of thinking behind, and thus promoting the intercultural communication.
