《资治通鉴》英译中哲学概念术语的概念重构

The Conceptual Construction and Translation of Philosophical Terms in Zizhi Tongjian

摘要: 中国典籍中的哲学概念术语展现了古代哲人对哲学问题的思考和中国哲学的发展历程。术语翻译是典籍翻译的一个重要领域，如何将这些术语正确引入目标语，并引起目标语读者的情感共鸣，是术语翻译面临的重要挑战。研究以《资治通鉴》中经典概念术语“礼”、“道”、“理”为研究对象，基于方志彤和张磊夫两位的《资治通鉴》英译本，分析了译者在英译哲学概念术语时运用的翻译策略。研究结果表明，译者在英译哲学概念术语时进行了概念重构，体现了不同程度的概念整合倾向，以期增加译文可读性和可接受性，对中国传统哲学概念术语外译具有借鉴意义。

Abstract: Chinese philosophical conceptual terms recorded in Chinese classics provide a glimpse into an-cient enlightenment for Chinese philosophy, which is also a translation field. How to introduce those cultural terms into target language background to simulate the target readers’ emotional agreement is a challenging work for translators. This research investigates the translation tech-niques for Chinese philosophical conceptual terms such as “Tian”, “Li”, “Dao” and “Li” and their translations in Zizhi Tongjian translated by Achilles Fang and Rafe de Crespigny. The result shows that conceptual reconstruction is applied in doing translation and the translators for the most resorted to the conceptual integration in semantics between source text and its translation. This method contributes to the conceptual reconstruction of terms translation, enhancing its readability, comprehensibility. The research results may shed some light on the approach to translate and introduce Chinese ideological and cultural terms into the outside world.
