Abstract: Purpose: Aggression has widespread negative impacts on individuals and society. Thus, it is im-portant to explore the factors that influence aggression to resist it. Trait hostility and anger rumi-nation are the influence factors of aggression. However, the relationship among trait hostility, anger rumination and aggression is not clear. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship among the three. Method: We used Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ), Anger Rumination Scale (ARS) and the hostility subscale of Positive and Negative Affect Schedule - Expanded Form (PANA-X) to measure in a sample of 131 undergraduate students. Mplus7.0 soft-ware was used for statistical analysis, structural equation model was used for model test, and bootstrap method was used for mediating effect test. Result: Trait hostility significantly positively predicted aggression (β = 0.19, p < 0.05), and anger rumination mediated the effect of trait hostility on aggression (β = 0.34, SE = 0.06, p < 0.001), and 95% confidence interval was [0.23, 0.57]. Conclusion: Trait hostility positively predicts aggression through anger rumination.
