“动机策略”在雅思口语课堂教学中的应用研究
Application of “Motivational Strategies” to the IELTS Speaking Classes in an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) Environment
摘要: 雅思口语学习是中国考生的一大难题,一部分原因归咎于缺乏学习动机。基于动机学原理以及使用动机策略,本文旨在解决在EFL环境下中国雅思口语考生动机缺失问题。通过实施动机策略干扰他们的消极学习行为,希望最终帮助他们提高雅思口语学习的学习动机。笔者实施动机策略为期四个月,发现班上学生在口语开口动机方面有显著进步,大部分学生有明显更强的英语交流意愿。因此,通过本文,笔者希望能为广大的雅思口语教学者们提供一些可操作的相关动机策略和方法以便使用在真实的口语课堂中,最终刺激更多“开口难”的学生更加自信地张口说英语。
Abstract: IELTS speaking has long been a huge headache for Chinese candidates, which owes in part to their lack of motivation to speak. Based on theories of motivation as well as motivational strategies, this essay aims to address shortage of motivation that confronts Chinese candidates in the hope that there could be an enhanced level of speaking motivation with the application of motivational strate-gies to interfere with their negative mentality towards speaking. An observation has been made that students’ motivation to speak has been improved notably, following a four-month long experimentation with the strategies to be mentioned in this essay in a mini-sized classroom setting. Therefore, this essay hopes to offer some insights for IELTS speaking teachers in terms of motivational strategies that might potentially be applicable to their authentic IELTS speaking classes, from which students could ultimately benefit so as to speak with more confidence and ease.
