Abstract: Cooperation is the base of the development and progress of human civilization. It also can be considered as one of the unique and defining human features. In this article, our main objective is to review previous studies on cooperative behavior using social dilemmas. Firstly, the definition and main classification of social dilemmas are sorted out. Secondly, we summarize influencing factors of cooperative behavior from the aspects of social value orientation, emotional state and social dilemma structure. Finally, the evolutionary explanation of the existence of cooperative behavior is introduced, including kin selection, direct reciprocity, indirect reciprocity, spatial selection, multilevel selection.
