Impacts of Solitary Coping and Meaning in Life on University Students’ Mental Health during the Resuming Study Period of the COVID-19 Epidemic

摘要: 目的:了解疫情延缓复学期高校大学生独处应对与生命意义感对心理健康的影响。方法:2020年6月采用问卷调查法对425名高校大学生进行了调查研究。结果:1) 在疫情延缓复学期405名被试(95.29%)心理健康状况良好。2) 女生在寻求意义感、情绪幸福感、社会幸福感和心理幸福感的得分均高于男生。3) 生命意义感可正向预测情绪幸福感、社会幸福感和心理幸福感。4) 独处应对一方面对社会幸福感有直接的负向作用,另一方面通过生命意义感对社会幸福感产生间接的正向促进作用;独处应对还通过生命意义感间接提升情绪幸福感和心理幸福感。结论:独处应对和生命意义感是提高疫情延缓复学期大学生心理健康水平的潜在干预靶点。
Abstract: Objective: This paper examined the impacts of solitary coping and meaning in life on university students’ mental health during the resuming study period of the COVID-19 epidemic. Methods: In June 2020, an investigation of 425 university students in one university from Chongqing city was conducted. Results: 1) A total of 405 (95.29%) participants reported good mental health during the resuming study period of the COVID-19 epidemic. 2) Female students scored significantly higher than male students on searching for meaning, emotional well-being, social well-being, and psychological well-being. 3) Meaning in life positively predicted emotional well-being, social well-being, and psychological well-being. 4) Solitary coping ability had a directly negative impact on social well-being and had an indirect positive impact on social well-being through meaning in life. Moreover, solitary coping ability positively influenced emotional well-being and psychological well-being through meaning in life. Conclusion: The results indicated that solitary coping and meaning of life may be potential targets for intervention to enhance the level of mental health among university students.
