Real Perception of Digital Video Works in the Context of “Interesting Times”

摘要: 作为艺术界“奥运会”的第58届威尼斯双年展于2019年5月11日如期开幕，展览持续至11月24日。本届双年展展览场地位于绿城花园和军械库，共有来自世界各地的79位艺术家、90个国家参展。作为本届双年展的策展人，伦敦海沃德画廊(Hayward Gallery)馆长拉夫·鲁戈夫(Ralph Rugoff)提出本次双年展的主题——愿你生活在有趣的时代(May You Live In Interesting Times)——这句过去曾被西方认为渊源于中国的古老诅咒话语，现以最大限度的包容性接纳来自世界各地参展艺术作品的多样性与复杂性，以期让艺术成为人们在“有趣时代”生活的工具和指南。而在本次双年展展出的作品中，数字影像作品占据着不容小觑的位置，“影像”已经成为艺术家们惯用的创作手法和表现形式。

Abstract: The 58th Venice Biennale, as the “Olympic Games” in the art world, would open on May 11, 2019 as scheduled, and the exhibition will last until November 24. Located in the Giardini’s Central Pavilion and the Arsenale, 79 artists and 90 countries from all over the world participated in the Biennale. As the curator of the Biennale, Ralph Rugoff, director of Hayward Gallery in London, proposed the theme of the Biennale “May You Live in Interesting Times”. This old curse, which was once considered by the west to be originated from China, now embraces the diversity and complexity of art works from all over the world to the maximum extent, so as to make art a tool and guide for people’s life in the “Interesting Times”. Among the works in this Biennale, digital video works are so important. And “digital video” has become a common creative technique and form of expression for artists nowadays.
