Abstract: Objective: To summarize the research progress in the occurrence and treatment of macrophage and metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). Methods: The research progress in the occurrence and treatment of macrophage and MAFLD was summarized by reading the domestic and international literatures published in recent years. Results: Recent studies have shown that the changes of the composition and function of monocytes/macrophages in the liver are the key to the progression of MAFLD, and the role of mononuclear macrophages in the development of the disease is very important. Conclusions: MAFLD is still the focus of chronic liver disease. Some progress has been made in the function and composition of macrophages in the pathogenesis of MAFLD, which provides a new insight for the treatment of MAFLD.
