Abstract: Disgust is a basic human emotion, which can keep individuals away from pathogens and at the same time produce unpleasant negative emotions, which affects the trust between people. Ex-ploring the relationship between trait disgust, state disgust, trust, and distrust can better under-stand the influencing factors and internal mechanisms of trust, thereby providing theoretical guidance for improving the trust level of the entire society. This research adopts a 2 × 2 mixed experimental design and conducts research on 130 college students. The results found that trait disgust has a significant main effect on distrust. Compared with individuals with low trait disgust, individuals with high trait disgust have more distrust; the main effect of emotion type on trust is significant, and compared with neutral emotions, state disgust produces less trust; there is no interaction between trait disgust and state disgust.
