Abstract: With the aggravation of the aging population, criminals use various ways and means to specifically target the elderly for fraud, which seriously endangers the property and personal safety of the elderly groups, and also causes serious impacts on society. Many factors affect the elderly’s fraud vulnerability, such as physiological aging, positive emotional bias, lack of financial knowledge, and high level of trust, etc. These risk factors may interact to make it difficult for older adults to judge and identify fake information and suffer fraud, resulting in property losses, and some of the victims will also be affected psychologically and behaviorally. This paper briefly introduces the prevalence, types, harmful consequences and risk factors of the fraud among the elder, and puts forward some preventive measures.
