《人面桃花》英译版的聚焦与叙事话语分析

摘要: 《人面桃花》是当代著名作家格非“江南三部曲”的开卷之作，其英译本2020年由纽约书评出版社(NY Review of Books, Incorporated, T.H.E)发行，译者为莫楷(Canaan Morse)——著名中国文学海外推介网站创始人之一。现国内尚未发现对该译本进行的研究。本文在叙事学视角下比较分析了原文和译本，笔者发现，《人面桃花》英译本中某些地方的叙事聚焦和话语表达方式与原文存在偏差，进而导致译本的叙事效果受到影响。经过研究，笔者认为，在文学翻译中，叙事对等原则对译者至关重要，同时也是作品能否成功再现的关键。
Abstract: Peach Blossom Paradise, published by NY Review of Books in 2020, is written by the famous Chinese writer Gei Fei and translated by Canaan Morse, one of the founders of Paper Republic. No research on the translation version has been found in China until now. This paper finds some deviations between the source text and the target text in terms of focalizations and speech presentation modes, which exert influences on the narrative effect. Through the comparative analysis, the author believes that it is helpful for the translators to follow the principle of narrative equivalence in literary translation and keep the narration as consistent with source text as possible.
