Abstract: Hypoxia inducible factor (HIF) is a transcription factor that plays an important role in cell response to hypoxia, coordinating metabolic switches and maintaining cell survival. The discovery of HIF stems from the study of erythropoietin (EPO). At present, it is believed that HIF plays an important biological role in a variety of inflammatory diseases. This article reviews the latest research of HIF in inflammatory diseases, such as tumor, autoimmune disease, tissue injury and various infectious diseases, as well as the new type of coronal pneumonia, in order to provide reference for the clinical treatment of various inflammatory diseases.
