Effect of Intensive Education Methods on Self-Management and Incidence of Complications in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients
Abstract:
Objective: To study the effect of intensive education methods on self-management and incidence of complications in peritoneal dialysis patients. Methods: A total of 80 patients who underwent catheterization and started peritoneal dialysis from September 2019 to September 2020 were enrolled in this study. All patients were randomly divided into 2 groups; 40 patients received routine education, while 40 patients received intensive education. Self-care ability and self-management scores, and incidence of complications in the two groups were recorded. Results: The self-care ability (P < 0.001) and the self-management score (P < 0.001) in intensive education group were both significantly better than the routine education group, and there were no significant differences in the incidence of peritonitis, transperitoneal tube displacement, blockage and other complications in the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Intensive education methods can significantly improve patients’ self-care ability and self-management.
