Effect of Family Socioeconomic Status on Life Satisfaction in Middle School: The Chain Mediating Role of Parental Educational Involvement and Emotional Intelligence
Abstract: Based on family investment theory and family stress model, 1000 students were selected from 7 middle and high schools in 4 provinces of China (Yunnan, Sichuan, Henan, and Guizhou) utilizing a convenience sampling technique. By the means of questionnaires, this study discusses the influence mechanism of middle and high school students’ family socioeconomic status (SES) on life satisfaction, and provides theoretical and practical arguments for improving middle and high school students’ life satisfaction. The results showed that: 1) there were significant positive correlations among family SES, parental educational involvement, emotional intelligence, and life satisfaction; 2) Parental education involvement and emotional intelligence play a chain mediating role between family SES and life satisfaction of middle and high school students.
