大学英语四、六级作文中转折类话语标记语的不当使用及原因分析
A Research on the Improper Use of Contrastive Discourse Markers in CET 4 & CET 6 Writing and Analysis of the Causes
摘要: 针对大学英语四、六级作文中因不能正确恰当地使用话语标记语而使句式松散,缺乏衔接与连贯这一问题,本文基于CLEC和LOCNESS这两个数据库,借助于Wordsmith 5.0和卡方计算器,对转折类话语标记语在大学英语四、六级作文及英美大学生英语作文中的使用作了比较研究,以发现和英美大学生英语作文相比,转折类话语标记语在大学英语四、六级作文中是否存在被过多使用、过少使用及误用。研究结果表明在大学英语四、六级作文中,中国大学生对这一类标记语的使用简单且口语化,缺乏多样性和灵活性,确实存在过多使用、过少使用及误用。造成这些不当使用的原因有汉语的写作思维模式、语体风格意识的缺乏、母语迁移、教学方法、学习者回避学习策略及教材参考工具中的材料信息不充分而产生的误导作用。
Abstract: Aimed at the problem of loosely connected sentences lacking in cohesion and coherence due to improper use of discourse markers, the research makes a comparative study of the use of contrastive discourse markers in CET 4 & CET 6 writing and in native English speakers’ writing to find out whether they are overused, underused and misused by Chinese college students based on the two corpora of CLEC and LOCNESS with the aid of Wordsmith 5.0 and Chi-square Calculator. Results of this study indicate that overuse, underuse and misuse do exist in CET 4 & CET 6 writing. The causes leading to such improper use include Chinese writing pattern, lack of stylistic differences, L1’s influence, teaching methods, learners’ avoidance learning strategy and insufficient information presented in reference tools.
