Differences in Aesthetic Cognition of Eyebrows between Different Genders

摘要: 选取66名西南大学本科学生(33名男性和33名女性)为实验被试，通过游戏软件捏脸系统让被试对眉毛的各参数进行操作，以研究不同性别对男女眉毛的审美认知差异。结果显示，不同性别对女性眉毛的长度、眉峰到眉尾的距离是有显著性差异的；眉峰的高度、眉宽和眉毛的倾斜程度都有差异，但未达显著性；不同性别对男性眉毛的长度、眉毛后半部分的倾斜程度是有显著差异；不同性别对男性眉毛的眉峰、眉宽和眉毛倾斜程度有差异，但未达显著性。由此可见，不同性别对女性眉毛审美是有显著性差异的，主要是针对眉毛的长度和眉峰与眉尾的相对距离；不同性别对男性眉毛审美是有显著性差异的，尤其对男性眉毛的长度和眉毛后半部分的倾斜程度上呈现出显著的差异。

Abstract: Sixty-six undergraduate students (33 males and 33 females) from Southwestern University were selected as participants, and the game software face pinching system was used to allow the participants to manipulate the eyebrow. The participants were asked to manipulate various parameters of eyebrows through the game software face pinching system in order to study the aesthetic perception differences of male and female eyebrows by gender. The results showed that the length of female eyebrows, the distance from the peak to the end of the eyebrows distance from the peak to the end of the eyebrow are significantly different; the height of the peak, the width of the eyebrow and the slope of the eyebrow are different, but do not reach significance. There were significant differences between genders in the length of male eyebrows and the slope of the posterior part of the eyebrows. There were differences between genders in the crest, width and slope of male eyebrows width and the degree of tilting of eyebrows in men's eyebrows differed by gender, but did not reach significance. This shows that there is a significant difference between the sexes in the aesthetics of women’s eyebrows, mainly for the length, width and slope of the eyebrows. There were significant differences between the sexes in the aesthetics of men’s eyebrows, especially in the length and the distance between the peak and the end of the eyebrow. There were significant differences in the aesthetics of men’s eyebrows, especially in the length of men’s eyebrows and the slope of the latter part of the eyebrows.
