Minimally Invasive Mitral and Aortic Valve Replacement via the Right Intercostal Space in a Patient with Severe Scoliosis and Review of the Literature
Abstract: The progress and development of minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery broadens the surgical path of patients with pulmonary insufficiency caused by scoliosis and improves the patient's tolerance to the same kind of cardiovascular surgery. At the same time, it also reduces a variety of postoperative complications caused by decreased pulmonary function. In this report, we describe a patient with thoracic deformity and poor pulmonary function caused by scoliosis who was able to tolerate simultaneous aortic and mitral valve replacement under cardiopulmonary bypass.
