Abstract: The minor is a necessary and beneficial supplement to a major, and it is one of the effective ways to cultivate interdisciplinary and innovative talents. Minor majors in China have been explored for many years and have achieved great achievements, but there are still some problems. Taking the minor of Tribology and Lubrication Science (Tribology for short) at Auburn University as an example, this paper discusses the training objectives, training modes, scientific research practice activities, quality assessment feedback, etc., and puts forward some suggestions. According to the background of the national new engineering construction, combined with the characteristics of different colleges and universities, the improvement and promotion of the training mode of the Tribology minor are expected to provide a reference for the further development of the minor professional education in my country.
