Problems that Should Be Noted in Translating Ancient Chinese Philosophical Classics—Taking the English Translation of the Daodejing, Platform Sutra, Zhuangzi as Examples
Abstract:
Firstly, a proper translation should grasp the original concern of ancient philosophers. Second, it needs to clarify the profound connotation and multiple layers of meaning with regard to some concepts within the classics. Lastly, it is better to leave some room and keep an appropriate bal-ance between clearness and ambiguity.
