Abstract: Truly isolated superficial femoral artery aneurysms (SFAAs) are rare. In this article, we report a case of a 73-year-old man with SFAAs masquerading as arterial embolism. The patient’s aneurysm was located in the distal third of the superficial femoral artery and was filled with wall thrombus, which is often difficult to identify on ultrasound. The patient came to our hospital with “left lower limb pain for 1 week, aggravated for 1 day”, and the aneurysm was not detected by ultrasound ex-amination before hospitalization. The risk of delayed rupture or missed misdiagnosis of SFAAS still exists despite the improvement of diagnostic techniques.
