Abstract: The Usual Suspects is a classic suspense film. The director uses unreliable narrative techniques to induce lines and plots to complete an amazing reversal. There are two typical characters in the film: Keaton and the chatterbox. One is a tough, athletic ex-cop, and the other is a lame, cowardly punk, but the end reveals their very different identities. How did Cesar Sohl, an international bandit, use human weakness to escape from an experienced cop? This paper will analyze various “traps” set in the film from the perspective of unreliable narration, in order to provide more experience for practical creation.
