英语语言中的性别歧视现象探究——以BNC语料库中“man”和“woman”为例

A Study of Sexism in the English Language —Taking “Man” and “Woman” in BNC Corpus as Examples

摘要: 语言是人类社会文化的重要载体，可以有效表达出人类社会的文化价值观念。英语语言中的性别歧视现象，历来引起了国内外不少研究者的关注。本文将通过英国国家语料库(BNC)，从“man”和“woman”的词频与性别成对词次序角度研究，以分析英语国家社会对待不同性别群体的态度，继而从文化、社会以及政治经济等因素探究英语语言中的性别歧视现象。

Abstract: Language is an important carrier of human social culture, which can effectively express the cul-tural values of human society. The sexism in English language has always attracted the attention of many researchers at home and abroad. Through the British National Corpus (BNC), this paper will study the word frequency of “man” and “woman” and the order of gender paired words, in order to analyse the attitudes of English-speaking countries towards different gender groups, and then explore the phenomenon of sexism in English language from cultural, social, political and economic factors.
