Abstract: Oligodendrocytes are representative glial cells in the central nervous system. In addition to forming myelin directly, oligodendrocytes play an important role in neuronal axonal growth and repair after nerve injury. Recent studies have shown that oligodendrocytes play an important role in maintain-ing the structural and functional stability of neurons by influencing their energy metabolism. This review focuses on the recent advances in myelination, post-injury repair and energy metabolism of oligodendrocytes, in order to provide reference for the treatment of oligodendrocyte-related dis-eases.
