Abstract: Sleep is an important part of a person’s good health and happiness. Pathologic disruption of sleep and changes in sleep habits will have a certain negative impact on the quality of life, and it will also be related to some adverse health and safety consequences (such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and motor vehicle accidents). Short habitual sleep duration can lead to excessive daytime sleepiness and neurocognitive decline, and may even lead to the development of premature death, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.
