Abstract: Third-party punishment, as a kind of prosocial behavior, plays a very critical role in the cooperation between social individuals and the maintenance of order and is widely used as a means of maintaining social order. However, there is no clear and unified explanation for the generation mechanism of this behavior in the current research. People have gradually discovered that there are a number of factors that affect third-party punishment. At the same time, researchers in this field have put forward many hypotheses to try to explain this phenomenon. Through the summary of previous studies, this paper expounds on the psychological factors that affect individual third-party punishment behavior and some related hypotheses.
