语域视角下TED Talk跨文化传播言语风格研究
A Study on the Cross-Culture Language Features of TED Talk from the Perspective of Register
摘要: 互联网普及赋能越来越多的外语学习者,让其能够接触到更为广泛且有效的外语材料。TED Talk作为中国外语学习者使用相对广泛且题材多样的英语学习材料,一直以来都是课堂和课外学习的重要材料。本研究基于TED近20年热门演讲为语料,以韩礼德语域理论为框架并结合跨文化传播相关研究以及前人对TED英语演讲的研究进行语言风格分析,皆在研究跨文化传播言语风格特征,旨在更好地把握内容结构和特点,为广大以英语演讲为学习材料的英语学习者提供内容分析范式。
Abstract:
The popularity of the Internet is empowering more and more foreign language learners, giving them access to a wider and more effective range of foreign language materials. TED Talk, as a relatively widely used and diverse English learning material for Chinese learners, has been an important material for both classroom and extra-curricular learning. This study is based on TED’s popular speeches over the past 20 years, and uses Haliday’s Register theory as a framework to analyse the language style of TED Talks in the context of cross-cultural communication research and previous research on TED English speeches, with the aim of better understanding the structure and characteristics of the content and providing a content analysis paradigm for English learners who use English speeches as learning materials.
